Bike Share Has Arrived!

The Metro Bike Share program launched on July 7, 2016 in Downtown Los Angeles.  The new system is a partnership between the City of Los Angeles and Metro  with 61 stations available 24/7, 365 days a year.  The station locations were selected based on proximity to community resources, employment centers, bike infrastructure, and transit in consultation with partner agencies, institutions, community groups, and stakeholders.   The Bike Share program is available to everyone 16 years and up.

It’s as Easy as Riding a Bike!

If you already have a TAP card, you can register it on the Metro website or you can get a brand new one in the mail when you register for a Bike Share Pass.

You can also do a Walk-up Ride for $3.50.  To get a bike as a walkup, you simply locate a bike station by downloading the app or using the website map.  When you arrive at the station, tap the screen, follow the prompts, swipe your credit or debit card, select a bike, and go!  Don’t forget to bring a helmet!

Returning the bike is easy too.  When you reach the station, just put the bike into any open dock.  You will see a flashing green light and hear the dock beep three times to confirm it’s been properly locked.  There are nearly twice as many bike parking spots as there are bikes, which makes finding an open dock easier.  If you do run into a station that is completely full, touch the screen on the kiosk to get 15 extra minutes free of charge to find another station to return the bike to.

More on how to use the new Bike Share system can be found on the Metro Bike Share website.
