Orange Line Extension, Wentworth Street, Reseda Boulevard: Updated Projects Map

LADOT Bike Blog has just updated the Projects Map for 2010.

The new changes consist of:

  • Construction has begun on the Orange Line Extension Bike Path
  • Bike Lane projects on Wentworth Street and Reseda Boulevard have been moved from “In Design” to “Pending Work Orders”
  • Two new Bike Lane projects have been added to “In Design”: Woodman Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard

This probably isn’t the best place to ask the question, but since my many, many phone calls to the LADOT Bicycle Program remain unanswered, and in light of the Orange Line extension breaking ground, here it goes:

How about finishing the LA River extension path south of Fletcher?

When is it ever going to be officially lit and open? I’ve been checking in on this project periodically for a year and a half, and kept getting told “soon, soon,” etc. The lights are now up, but I still see no lines painted. Are the lights functioning? Is the gate at Fletcher open?

Can it really be so hard to just finish the damned thing, especially since other projects are now breaking ground?

    We’ve waited long enough.

We feel your pain, Sierra Cyclist. In the salad days of LADOT Bike Blog, we were duped into thinking the path would be open in late April.

The official date for opening ceremonies on the Elysian Valley section of the LA River Bike Path will be December 4th, which will also host the first interviews for the LA River StoryShare. As for striping, it just went in this weekend, though touch-up work still needs to be done by work crews.

We’re sorry that you haven’t be able to get good responses from staff. Email me at ladotbikeblog (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll be happy to supply you with my work number. Be forewarned, however, that I won’t be in the office much over the next three weeks: finals.

Bike Lane projects on Wentworth Street, Reseda Boulevard and Orange Line extension. I fancy more bike lanes in the valley! Just keep them coming my way.

Does anyone know of Ventura County bike path maps like the LADOT ones and whether the information about tripping signals to change for cyclists applies yet in Ventura County for riders?
